Andrew Dowie
Andrew Dowie is a Consultant Senior Solicitor within the Employment Law Team. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1998.
Experience & Areas of Expertise
Until recently, Andrew was also an experienced member of the Family and Matrimonial, and Wills and Probate Teams. He no longer undertakes this work but now specialises in advising those who have received Settlement Agreements from their employer with a view to them potentially leaving their employment. He has worked in this area since 2010.
Andrew has extensive experience in advising clients with regard to their entitlement to notice pay, accrued annual leave, and if relevant, any compensation pay that may be offered. He provides detailed advice regarding all clauses included in Settlement Agreements. He regularly successfully argues for amendments or additional clauses to be added to the agreements where appropriate.
Andrew is instructed by individual clients and regularly via trade unions on behalf of their members. He can also draft Settlement Agreements if required.
Andrew is in his second stint with Powell Spencer and Partners having trained and qualified as a Solicitor at the firm in the late 90s / early 2000s before working at a Central London firm for 16 years. He returned here in 2020.
