Greg Powell

Greg is the Founding Partner (1977) of the firm and acts in serious criminal cases. 

Greg has been a leading figure in the London Criminal Courts Solicitors Association (LCCSA) for many years as a Committee member, Junior and Vice President, President, Executive Officer and latterly President again in 2016 through to 2018. 

A very experienced Solicitor Greg has been described for many years in Chambers & Partners as an Eminent Practitioner.


Cases

Historically Greg has been instructed in relation to Guantanamo Bay, Irangate, Cash for honours, MPs expenses as well as a large number of conspiracies, murders and frauds.

Greg counts at least a dozen acquittals of clients tried for Murder and continues to act in matters of conspiracy, fraud, rape, organised crime and other serious criminal matters. 


Recent Successes

R v E, June 2025 – acquittal of intentional strangulation in Snaresbrook Crown Court 
R v C, June 2025 – acquittal of murder in Woolwich Crown Court
R v B, April 2025 - acquittal re possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in Harrow Crown Court 

Media & Events

Greg is a regular public speaker on issues in the Criminal Justice System, especially cuts to Legal Aid and Disclosure and has appeared many times on Television and Radio programmes and comments on the future in this LCCSA film celebrating 70 years as an Association.

Greg is a past Legal Aid lawyer of the year 2005, The Times lawyer of the week 2005 and appears as a character in the plays concerning Guantanamo Bay and the London Riots
